April 15, 2019 - United Way of Missoula County has launched a new membership-based nonprofit center to support, strengthen, and better connect Missoula, Mineral, and Ravalli county nonprofit organizations.
The Missoula Nonprofit Center (MNC) is a result of the merger of the Missoula Nonprofit Network and Volunteer Missoula, and functions as a program of United Way of Missoula County, with its own staff, funding, and website at www.MissoulaNonprofitCenter.org. Volunteer Missoula’s public volunteer management website, which has operated under United Way’s fiscal sponsorship for several years, with support from members and a grant from the City of Missoula, now operates as a partner site of MNC and is found linked via the MNC website and at www.VolunteerMissoula.org.
MNC will provide Missoula, Mineral, and Ravalli county nonprofits and nonprofit professionals with trainings, networking opportunities, information sharing, and other resources. MNC will also offer multiple public information platforms through the website: a public calendar for nonprofits to submit their events, a job board for nonprofits to advertise employment opportunities, and a curated news feed of articles of interest to and about Missoula-area nonprofits. Information about upcoming events, jobs, and news will be also be included in the weekly MNC email newsletter.
The Volunteer Missoula website offers members the ability to recruit volunteers through a sophisticated online platform. MNC plans to springboard off the expanded network created by the merger to inject new energy into the Missoula volunteer community. Volunteer Missoula currently has hundreds of users and now, with the joint capabilities of the Missoula Nonprofit Center and United Way, is envisioned to become an even stronger community resource.
“We are so happy to be able to bring together and offer so many invaluable resources to western Montana’s nonprofits,” said Susan Hay Patrick, CEO of United Way of Missoula County. “The nonprofit sector in our area represents a major economic force and a huge driver of community quality of life. Yet too often our nonprofits, which are expected to do so much, lack the resources, connections and other tools they need to thrive. We see MNC as an affordable “one-stop shop’ for all things nonprofit in our community.”
Missoula Nonprofit Center membership is $50 a year. Membership enables 501(c)(3) organizations to access numerous member benefits and the ability to organize volunteer needs on the Volunteer Missoula website. A full list of member benefits can be found at MissoulaNonprofitCenter.org.
